Alice Whitehouse is a filmmaker, photographer and National Geographic Explorer.

Alice started taking pictures from a young age after being gifted a yellow instant camera. However, it wasn’t until her mid-teens that she started to really focus on her photography. This interest took her down the filmmaking path and she studied Film Production at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, graduating in 2017 with a First Class Honours.

Since then she has worked for the United Nations Mine Action Service, Médecins Sans Frontières, and the International Organization for Migration, with a focus on audiovisual content creation. Her work for UNMAS has also taken her on assignment to Nigeria, filming and photographing their projects in the northeast of the country. As a freelancer, Alice has created dozens of films for a number of organisations and charities including the NHS, the Wildlife Trust, Parkinson’s UK, UNIDIR and UNOPS.

In 2021 and 2022, Alice received grants from National Geographic Society to work on a web series entitled “Rewilding the Iron Curtain.” This project focuses on the European Green Belt - an ecological corridor following the original route of the Iron Curtain. In 2023, Alice joined a collaborative National Geographic Explorer-led project called "Rediscovery North America's Forgotten Fossil Forests and Inspiring the Next Generation of Paleobotanists" as a contributing storyteller.
